It is a suspense movie
In a way, the Brick movie is kind of like a film student’s thesis project. Now, I know that sounds clumsy, I know that all sorts of images of clunky or extremist or even experimental film making come to mind. Well, you can set all that aside.
The Brick movie, for all intents and purposes, is actually well made. I’m not saying it’s sleek and smooth and completely friction-free, but it definitely comes close. When it comes to production values, it more than holds its own, so let’s not go there.
Hong Kong used to be dirt poor. They opened up their economy so that anybody could start their business there very easily. They also did not tax people to death. They also allowed for free trade and very light regulations.
